Amaretti is a traditional product of Sicilian confectioners. It is a biscuit whose intense aroma and taste of the almonds from Avola foretell a genuine, long delight to the palate. To prepare these treats we only use almonds from Avola which come from the farms of Pizzuta, Fascionello and Corrente d’Avola. These varieties are most valued in confectionery, thanks to their intense scent they can’t be mistaken for cheap supermarket almonds. These varieties are in bloom early, in the middle of winter, therefore they can only grow on sunny slopes of the valleys and near the sea. Therefore the growing of these almonds is focused exclusively in the province of Syracuse and Ragusa. Amaretti accompanied by coffee can be an ingredient of breakfast, they can also by eaten as a dessert after meal, with afternoon tea or traditionally together with typical sweet Sicilian wines.
