Almond biscuits are typical, Sicilian confectionery with soft, praline inside.
To make these pastries we only use almonds originating from the town of Avola, which are the varieties of Pizzuta, Fascionello and Corrente d’Avola.
These are the most highly prized and valuable varieties of almonds used mainly, but not only, in confectionery. They are highly prized for their intensive aroma and therefore there is no way to mistake them for other varieties which are usually on offer in supermarkets.
The early period of blossoming of these varieties, which is in the middle of winter, makes them grow only in very sunny places, located on low hills, near the sea.
For this reason these varieties are planted exclusively in the region of Syracuse and Ragusa.
Almond biscuits may be served for breakfast with coffee, as dessert after meals, or for the afternoon tea.
Biscuits are gluten free.
