Valencia is one of the best known and most often grown varieties of light orange. Its fruits have round shape, slightly flattened at the poles, and light fair orange peel. This orange is mainly used to make juice – due to its high content of juice, the lack of pips, and its flavour qualities. The rind of this orange has least bitterness, therefore it is sought after by the devotees of candied peel or orange marmalades. The trees have fruits of medium size, whose flesh is bright orange, very stringy. Valencia is one of the latest varieties, it is picked from April until mid June, it closes the citrus season in Europe.
